Professional Learning Community for Latinx Focused Fundraising


​Introduction
Juntos Podemos is our new professional learning community for fundraising. They are organized by issue focus areas your nonprofit works on. The key focus areas are:

Juntos Podemos Groups
  • Immigration- Leadership Partner organizations are CHIRLA, Allianzas Americas, The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights and ALMA Chicago. 
  • Public Health/Health Disparities
  • Arts and Culture- Leadership Partner -Latinos in Heritage Conservation
  • Community Services
  • Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
  • Education and Youth
Juntos Podemos is a virtual meeting of an hour and a half four times a year to come together, share community, share successful fundraising practices and methods. We will also be providing critical training tailored for each issue focus

What’s a Professional Learning Community?
A PLC as we call it is a community of learning and support. For Somos El Poder it’s a safe space where  for example, successful fundraising practices around immigration can be shared, analyzed, understood and improved upon. This will allow for rapid and fair spreading of successful methods and practices. This will hopefully advance our movements, and strengthen our nonprofits across the nation.
For example, if one nonprofit has discovered messaging or a type of event that raises a lot of money and awareness why not let your sister and brother organizations in the same cause know it nationally? Perhaps it would be useful, even game-changing? That’s for each leader and each organization to determine.
Our PLC will not support transactional or shallow fundraising practices, practices that are not proven, practices that produce very little for a lot of work, and other unhealthy practices as our team of fundraising experts determine.

KEY ASPECTS
Who will Administrate this Group?
Juntos Podemos will be moderated and curated by Somos El Poder staff and Board in conjunction with all the members of the Juntos Podemos.

Who Can Join?
All nonprofit organizations that work for the Latinx community on these can join. Each submission will be reviewed by Somos El Poder staff. Somos El Poder only supports US-based nonprofits including Puerto Rico.
We will also encourage all PLC members to formally join Somos El Poder as members to receive the full services of membership. There will be no pressure or sales in Juntos Podemos.
If you’re a Somos El Poder member you can join more than one group if your organization is involved with different areas listed. This group is for active fundraisers on this issue area for the Latinx community of all backgrounds, races, genders and orientations. 

When Are They?
They will be 4 times a year for an hour and a half. When you sign up for a category we will send you the dates for the year for Juntos Podemos once we have enough organizations signed up to start one. 

What’s on the Agenda?
We want to create a true community of Latinx immigration fundraisers so we break the agenda into three pieces.
  • Updates/Introductions/Success Sharing
  • Best Practices Showcase
  • SEP Training Module
We will hear from all attendees to introduce themselves, give an assessment, and talk about their work. Furthermore, we will work to identify successful practices in fundraising and have them presented. Sometimes this will be one, other times it may be more.

What are the Rules?
  • We focus on the positive and emphasize Solutions
  • We listen, we engage, we ask good questions meant to help everyone
  • No sales or consultants pitching themselves
  • We keep our questions brief
  • It’s a safe space for all genders and voices

Submit a Fundraising Best Practice! 
If your a member of a Juntos Podemos group, this is the form to submit your fundraising Best Practice for review during the next Juntos Podemos meeting. Practices should have a track record or bringing in giving. We especially focus on relationship based fundraising methods.
