Why a Latinx Fundraising Institute? Why Join?
Our Membership Model
We work with Latinx focused nonprofits. Our mission is the advancement of fundraising for these institutions and the advancement of Latinx in the fundraising and leadership of nonprofits.
There are three types of Somos El Poder Memberships
1. Latinx Focused Nonprofits - All Leadership, Staff, Board who want to improve the fundraising of that organization.
2. Latinx Fundraising Professionals working in a nonprofit that's not a Latinx Focused nonprofit
3. Latinx Students who want to enter Nonprofit Fundraising as a career.

Code of Conduct
We look forward to partnering with non-profit, organizations, individuals, philanthropies, and for-profit entities that are allied with our mission and meet our criteria by aligning with us against any distribution, display, or discussion of any written or graphic material that ridicules, denigrates, insults, belittles or shows hostility, aversion or disrespect toward an individual or group because of national origin, race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, appearance, disability, sexual identity, marital status or other protected status. If an entity violates our code of conduct, they will be immediately removed and barred by the Board of Directors.

Here are the details:
Our Organizational Membership Criteria are as follows:
- The organization must commit at least two staff or Board Members to be representatives and attend SEP Training/Conferences etc. One of them being the Development Officer if one exists. We are focused on "Latinx focused" organizations, not Latinx Led. So we welcome leadership who are allies from all races and ethnicities that are working to advance Latinx in the US today.
- Your Organization should meet the following criteria:
- The focus of the nonprofit is the improvement of the lives of Latinx in the US today. The population your organization serves is 51% Latinx or more.
- There is a significant commitment to Latinx in leadership, Staff, and Board representation of at least 20%.
- It must be an organization with no support or record of misogyny, homophobia, or racism.
- Organizations that are affiliated with negative and false information about Latinx will not be allowed to be members.
- An organization in good standing ethically and legally.
Our Individual Memberships Criteria are as follows:
- Latinx students who want to enter the fundraising profession. High School and College students.
- Individual Latinx professionals who work for non-Latinx focused organizations, but who want to improve their fundraising skills. Their organization would not qualify but they would.
Our Board of Directors approves all organizational and individual memberships in Somos El Poder.
Benefits of Membership
- Access to all online and virtual classes, seminars, and resources of Somos El Poder
- Reduced conference fees, accommodations, food for the annual Somos El Poder National Conference in Los Angeles and New York/DC.
- Inclusion in JUNTOS the online support system of SEP
- 2 Hours of Consulting Time for each organization, monthly. One hour monthly for individuals.
- Reduced fees for La Vanguardia Academy
Membership Fee’s
Nonprofit Organizations:
- For organizations with budgets under $5,000,000, the annual fee is $100
- For organizations with budgets under $10,000,000, the annual fee is $350
- For organizations with budgets over $10,000,000, the annual fee is $900
Individuals:
- Individual Student Memberships are $30 a year
- Individual Professional Memberships are $75 a year.
Code of Conduct

We would like veteran development officers and other practitioners who have had experience with these fundraising methodologies to be available to answer questions and support other nonprofit leaders implementing these same fundraising methodologies.
